BUILDING A HUBCAP BARBECUE You may have noticed that the barbecue and equipment we’re using are fairly high end, but it’s important to remember that the barbecue is really an incredibly simple device when you get down to it. All you need is a fire retardant space, some fire, and meat slightly distanced from the heat. This in mind, it’s really quite easy to make a barbecue using objects from around your home or garage. To build a barbecue out of a hubcap, some copper piping, and some twine. Just stake three or four copper pipes into the ground in a triangle or a square, and then bring the tops past each other at the center. Tie them with twine at the join, and then place the hubcap, with holes punched in it for ventilation, into the stand that’s created. Toss in some charcoal and light ‘er up. It’s as simple as that.
