MAKING DOG TREATS

MATERIALS NEEDED :
2 and a 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
1/2 cup of non-fat powdered dry milk
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 teaspoon of salt
6 Tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 Egg
1/2 cup of cold water

The old saying tells us that man’s best friend is his dog. Those of you with dogs most likely realize the truth behind this, but for those of you who don’t have dogs but are attempting to get in good with a woman who owns a dog, remember this – dogs are among the most loyal beasts on the planet, and if you can get some of that loyalty from her pooch, you’re as good as in.

Why don’t you make your own dog biscuits? They’re a lot easier to make than you might think they are, and gives you that added glaze of ingenuity that might be just what she’s looking for.

RED HOT DOGGIE TREATS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Time: 30 minutes plus cooling
Yields approximately 3-4 dozen cookies.

* 2 and a 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
* 1/2 cup of non-fat powdered dry milk
* 1 teaspoon of sugar
* 1 teaspoon of salt
* 5 Tablespoons of butter or margarine
* 1 Egg
* 2/3 cup of cold water

Method:
Mix all ingredients with the water. Knead for 3 minutes or do as I do and mix it all up in the food processor. Dough will form a ball. Roll out to 1/2" thick and cut into small shapes such as stars, moons, dog bones, rectangles or small circles.
Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 25 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Be sure to store the treats in an air-tight container.
