MILES MAKES FIRE FROM SCRATCH
Oh, geez, I'm glad you guys are here, I have been out here for days, I'm freezing, I haven't eaten, I've got to make myself a fire here, I've got to - I've got to make a fire. Um, fortunately I had my machete along, I've made some stuff up here earlier just before you guys showed up, I've got a bow here, this is for making the fire, it's tough to use but it'll work, it'll work. I need to use this, got my boot strings in here. This piece of wood is the one that's going to make it work, I've got a little hole drilled in here so I'm going to spin the spindle in and it's going to drill right through there and we're going to get sparks that come through and they'll hopefully make a fire. I need a dry spot to start the fire, I'm just going to use this leaf here, so I'm going to put this down in my fire pit, make it level with some mud, okay, and I already carved this thing up, it's just a piece of dry hardwood, and I kind of put a little notch in the middle there for the string. I need some wood shavings in here first to start the fire in. So we've got some shavings here and we're going to put them in under, into that hole there, this is where the spark's going to come through. The animals out here are huge, the only thing that scares them off is fire. Okay, all right, all right, now, I chiseled a little hole in this block here so that I won't drill a hole in my own hand, so I'm just going to push firmly down on this thing here, and we're going to get it started. Come on, baby, come on, come on, come on okay, we got a spark in there now, all right.
Okay, look at that, look at that, we've got a fire going here, but I want more fire. Let's say you're barefoot in the jungle, you don't even have the boot lace to make a bow with, just take a piece of wood, use the trusty machete or rock or whatever you've got, and you cut a groove into the log, into the piece of wood, this is where you're going to generate your heat. At the end we've got some tinder for the spark to land in so we can get our fire started once we generate a spark, and now just a simple stick and we start rubbing the stick into the groove. This is hard work, you'll keep warm one way or the other, whether you get fire or not. Okay, we got our spark, the same like before. Aha, I have made fire!
